It’s unequivocally utterly simple. You contingency have an XP OS disk, however. If there is no OS already commissioned on a tough drive, only insert a hoop and follow a prompts. If there is an OS on a tough drive, go in to a BIOS during begin up. Change a Boot inclination so which a cd rom boots first. Insert a hoop and restart a computer. Again, follow a prompts. At one indicate we will be asked if we wish to format a stream partition. Format a stream assign so which a strange OS will be erased prior to XP is installed.

First set it up in the bios to boot from cd. Push any key to boot from cd. Let it install the setup for xp. A window should pop up for the Windows Xp Setup. Hit enter. then a licensing agreement will pop up hit F8 to agree. Then a screen that wants you to create or delete a partition, Choose the drive you wish to install Xp on and what I do is delete the partition. then I format the drive using the NTFS File System (Quick) Format begins and then the setup checks the hard drive for errors. The computer will reboot. After the reboot it will once again ask you to press any key to boot from cd. Ignore the message. It will the begin the install of Xp. As setup begins you’ll be asked to fill in some info. Most are self-explanatory. Windows will ask for Region and Language (the default is U.S., English). Then it will ask you for a name. Your first name will do. Then it will ask you for your product key. enter the key as provided with you Xp Disk. Windows will then ask you for a Computer Name and Administrator Password Just click next. Then it will ask you to set the time and date. After that Windows will ask you to set your Network Settings…Leave it as is. After the setup runs and your computer reboots it will load Windows and want you to set up Windows. At the first window click next. If you are installing Windows Xp Sp2 it will ask you to turn on Windows Updates. (Recommended) Click next . It will ask you how your computer connects to the internet. In most cases it is through a local area network. Then you will be asked to activate Windows, Click yes if you are already on the internet. (Plaese note that if you have a gaming system and have not installed most Video cards and chipset drivers you may want to click no and activate later. Then it will ask for a name do that and then a thank you window will come up. After that you are free to roam around Windows check out the internet or install all your software. Hope this helps.

You’d need to do a bit of research on the model next time before answering, jc__99. The Acer Aspire One does not include a CD/DVD drive.

The Acer Aspire One could have windows xp installed through unconventional methods such as through modified USB drives or SD cards, but those setups are usually much too complicated to walk someone through if they are starting out as basic as you are in terms of level of difficulty.

Windows XP in many cases will not by itself contain all the files needed to properly use all the parts of the laptop. However, upon searching on Acer’s own website I could not find a list of drivers for this model. They only listed three downloads. 2 utilties for XP and Acer eNet management for Vista. I cannot help you find Acer One drivers at this time if compatible ones are not included with XP.

This is how I would install XP on a Acer Aspire One running Linux. (Assuming you don’t need any files saved). Go and buy an external DVD/CD drive, and make sure you have a valid license and CD for windows XP. Connect the DVD/CD drive to the laptop by USB and put the Windows XP CD into the drive. Make sure you turn off your computer. Turn your computer on and tap the F12 key. It should bring up a boot menu allowing you to choose the USB CD/DVD drive as your boot device. Use the up/down keys to select the USB CD/DVD drive option and press enter. The XP CD should detect that the hard drive has files on it and will prompt you “Press any key to boot from CD…”, press a key on the keyboard. After this you should be able to follow the on screen prompts to finish the installation. If you seriously do need a step by step walkthrough there are sites dedicated to such things, and can give you a much better walkthrough than I can. Places such as:

    or

I hope I have sufficiently answered your question.
