I have a netbook a little one gave me to repair and I’m perplexing to foot it and it usually went median by setup. we attempted Windows 2000 Professional regulating an outmost CD-RW expostulate and it stopped during starting Windows 2000 setup and when we attempted Windows XP Professional it didn’t even commend a front and went true in to Windows. So does this meant we have to foot it with a USB peep drive

If it will load windows then you are “booting” it
If you are trying to fix a system error then what is the OS that is on the Acer ? if it is younger than any of the OS your trying to use it will not work if the set up is being run from the hard drive info.
You will need to alter the BIOS and start up sequence so the system will see and use the external drive and also boot from it as well as use it during the install.

with you external CD/DVD-ROM drive attached, try F12 at boot up select a boot source from the boot menu. If this is not enable, you might have to do that yourself or set USB CD-ROM as 1st boot device in the BIOS settings.

Use F2 to enter the BIOS at boot up. Save before exit… enjoy

PS: If you were already in process of fixing and stopped, you might wanna use a higher version of whatever OS CD you were using, or if impossible, try taking out the hard drive for a format and restart process.

If it still has it`s restore partition you can restore it to factory settings by tapping Alt and F10 together at startup, no disc necessary.
