WHAT ARE THE POSITIVE/NEGATIVE ASPECTS OF THE NEW ACER ASPIRE ONE 11.3IN LAPTOP?

Author: Question by hybrid_star: What have been a positive/negative aspects of a new Acer Aspire One 11.3in laptop?
I was formulation to buy a new laptop underneath 00 and one of a suggestions was a new net book from Acer. What do we think?

mm… i find it to be a really accessible and utilitarian netbook. it’s great for receiving notes, and surfing a net (looking during a news, checking email, etc.). however, since it is a netbook, dont design to be means to fool around tall peculiarity games nor be means to watch videos on it. we could try, though it would be intensely slow. it has a great battery (lasts about 2.5 hours) and is really accessible in general.

You are wise to check out both the positives and negatives before you buy. Alot of people assume they are the same as a real computer and have wasted alot of money. If you go to craigslist or to the dell, hp or acer website, you can find them refurbished for cheap because people bought the netbook, then returned it. Make sure you get one with windows unless you know linux. Alot are shipping with linux.
I really love my dell netbook, but it is EXTREMELY limited. It is meant to be an accessory to a real computer, NOT a replacement for a real computer. Of course a dell or an hp will be much more relaiable than an acer
negative;
1 It’s NOT a NOTEbook, it’s a NETbook.
2 It does not have a dvd drive
3does not have a video card (uses intrgrated)
4does NOT have a pentium class processor.
5It’s an acer, the company qith one of the worst reliability ratings and with THE worst tech support (ALL tech support is bad, but acer/emachines/gateway takes the cake)
6 cannot play video games.
7 NOT upgradeable
8 must be repaired by a professional
9 unbelieveable small screen, only can read it an hour before you get tired
10 really small keyboard, really hard to type on
POSITIVES
1Cheap,
2you can get email if you are near a hotspot
3 lightweight
4 easy to carry in a backpack
5 great to create and edit documents
6great to make powerpoint presentations on (you must buy powerpoint, it doesn’t come with it
7 easy to synch to a real computer
8 easy to remote into a real computer
9 better screen and speakers than an ipod style mp3 player
10 good battery life.
For a 1000, I would recommend a real notebook computer. And at a 1000, a notebook is going to NOT be a high end one. At 1000 for a notebook, I would not recommend a mac, but they are OK, I recommend dell studio, hp, compaq, toshiba or lennovo.
Another thought would be to get a GOOD $600 desktop which will outperform a $1000 notebook and will be upgradeable and easily repairable even by beginning users. The desktop is where you will do your real computing from and get the netbook that is portable and synch up periodically. That’s how I use my netbook. Again think of a netbook as an accessory, not as a device with real computing power
i install it in my acer everything work only upgrade the drivers and it will work

@davidchinesepeople you dont buy it with mac os x because its not legal, you have to use either retail disk or a download distro and install, for retail you need to install boot loader and os to a thumb drive, then launch the thumb drive from f12 boot menu.
how can you get mac on a netbook instead of having xp?

Sound does work with latest VoodoHDA.kext, LAN (Eth0) works with iAts code.google.com/p/iats/ only sleep/wake and internal mic plus wifi. Change wifi with a dell one half-sized from ebay and you are good to go!
