WHY IS IT THAT MY WIFE’S GATEWAY LAPTOP OUT PERFORMS MY ACER NETBOOK?

hers: made up hdd, no anti-virus software, pop-ups out a ears
mine: reduction than a year old, McAfee commissioned ever since
what have been a probable determining factors?
All: that’s what i was fearful of, im kicking myself in a front (should have listened to those consumer reports about people adhering with laptops over netbooks)
all: can i barter a hdd from a netbook out with an additional from a laptop?

Because Acer sucks flat out. I have had a PC and a Acer laptop and they both have crashed after only a couple of months of use and were more susceptible to viruses. I switched to a HP laptop and have never been happier.

First of all, McAfee is crapware. Of course this is my opinion and everyone has their own views.
Second, you did say you had a netbook and hers was a laptop. Laptops are generally more powerful because they use mobile processors and netbooks are slower because they use atom processor.
Your Netbook has a Much slower Processor than wife LapTop. Your Netbook is limited to 2 Gigabyte. As a rule, laptop are just portable DeskTops and Netbooks were built for much lighter work like reading and writing and long battery life.
Even the lowest power notebook has more power than even the best netbook. Netbooks are accessories to real computers not a replacement for one. It’s like comparing a razor scooter (not even a vespa) with a harley davidson.
Gateway is the sligtly “better company name for the emachines/acer/gateway consortium. just like cadilac is better than pontic which is better than chevy. Acer is bottom of the line in ALL respects. Even amongst their own brand, their bad, and that brand is NOT the same quality as the industry average. Just ask the tech at work or school. We NEVER deploy acer or emachines in ANY network and we havent deployed gateways in 10 years.
Yes, assuming it has the same interface (such as esata),you can put the hd from the netbook into an notebook, but the standard notebook hd is usually faster (7200 vs 5400) and bigger. IF you put the drive in a notebook, you will need to install the drivers for all notebook devices onto the netbook drive. you slide the drive out, remove the “rails” and trade with the other computer. then slide it in. can be done with a #2 phillips head but it’s not worth the effort
I’d use the netbook the way it’s supposed to be used. as an internet device or as a remote terminal OR I’d sell it and get a real computer. Avoid acer/emachines/gateway
You need to install an anti virus on her computer, VERY important! AVG and avast are very good and free. No reason not to.
