Acer netbook screen white and “staticky”?

Question by Kristen: Acer netbook screen white and “staticky”?
So I have an Acer Aspire netbook with windows 7. So last week I set it down on the table and a half hour later I noticed I set it down on some spilt pepsi. I wiped it off with a towel and blew on it a little and everything was working fine.

About two / three days ago, I noticed that my screen would occasionally go white. And you know how sometimes old cable TVs get the static-fuzzy type stuff? Yeah. My netbook screen goes white and staticky like that— not the whole screen, just half of it. I can easily get rid off this by tilting the screen a few times. It mostly does the white screen right when I start up the netbook, or when I leave it open but don’t use it for a few minutes.

Oh. And about four days ago I got one of those windows updates. And when it was restarting, the laptop went black and wouldn’t load. It took a half hour to get it working again.

So yeah, I was just wondering if you knew what was wrong with my laptop, how to fix it, etc… I’m pretty sure it might have something with the pepsi, but I want your input. Thanks in advance!

You can try to do a system restore to make sure that it’s a hardware problem, though because netbooks are so compact, it’s highly likely that it was damaged with the soda.

The Acer Aspire Timeline 1810TZ is as portable as a netbook and it can still fit in hand luggage easily. It’s well built and feels strong, but is also reasonably thin. The keys on the keyboard are just the right size, so typing is comfortable. It has an 11.6 inch screen, which is bigger than the average netbook’s, and can display a higher resolution, giving more Windows desktop space. Webpages and documents fit better on the screen and are less likely to require scrolling from left to right. Read more:

Question by avgirl513: How do I restore my Acer Aspire one to factory settings?
My computer is slow and keeps freezing so I’m trying to reset it to factory settings but everytime i try to do the ALT F10 during the Acer screen on startup it starts dinging at me like an open car door and freezes on a black screen. I’m not sure if it’s me or the computer but some help would be great. Thanks!

Like all laptops the AA1 netbook has the same controls for volume

Press Fn key and the up and down arrows on your curser keys at the same time (they have a little speaker symbol on them)

How do I change my Acer Aspire One wallpaper?

Question by MrLegacy: How do I change my Acer Aspire One wallpaper?
I’ve been told several different false solutions as to how I can apply my own picture to my desktop background. Wallpaper Websites do not work. When I right click on my desktop there is no ‘personalize’ option. Choosing ‘set as desktop background’ from my Paint menu does not work. Does anyone have a solution to my dilemma?

Your operating system is the Starter version – you can’t change the wallpaper. (There’s no way around it – that function just isn’t in the operating system.)
